Indonesia: Rainy Season to Bring Flooding

By Larry Habegger | Permalink | No Comments | February 5th, 2009 | Trackback

The U.S. Embassy in Jakarta advised visitors that the rainy season is about to start and areas of the country, including the capital city Jakarta, are prone to flooding during the heaviest rains. Some precautions to take when traveling at this time are to let someone know your destination, keep your gas tank three-quarters full if using a private vehicle, be sure your cell phone is fully charged, and approach standing water with caution. Many roads have uncovered drainage ditches on each side and they may not be visible when roads are flooded.
