Belgium: Brussels Airport May Need Security Upgrade

Studies by Belgian and European aviation authorities concluded that security needs tightening at Brussels’ Zaventem Airport. The studies found that security checks on both checked and carry-on luggage were not thorough enough and staff with no business being in the baggage handling area were allowed to walk freely through it. An airport official defended the security procedures there saying such criticism was an injustice to the staff, but the government asked for improved security measures.
