Madagascar: African Union Gets Promise for Elections This Year

The announcement offered a ray of hope that the country’s political crisis could be resolved in the face of a government established by military coup, the arrest of a prime minister appointed by the deposed president and a ban on demonstrations. The U.S. State Department currently advises against travel to Madagascar.
