Madagascar: U.S. State Department Cancels Travel Warning

The U.S. State Department lifted the ordered departure of official Americans and canceled the March 17 Travel Warning about travel to Madagascar. The move was an acknowledgment that the situation has calmed down around the country following the coup that installed former Antananarivo mayor Andry Rajoelina as president in March. The government continues to be isolated by the international community, and deposed President Marc Ravalomanana has not given up hope of reclaiming his office.
