Egypt: Broad Daylight Robberies in Cairo’s Maadi Expat Neighborhood

By Larry Habegger | Permalink | No Comments | December 22nd, 2010 | Trackback

Several robberies have occurred in broad daylight in the Maadi section of Cairo over the last few months, targeting expatriates, including members of the U.S. Mission here. The incidents, which have occurred between noon and 3 p.m. in the vicinity of Road 250, have involved two perpetrators in a blue or silver car. The passenger gets out, approaches the victim and asks for directions to a soccer game, then either tries to pickpocket the victim or assaults him. Maadi has a large expatriate community. If visiting the area, remain alert to your surroundings.
