Japan: Visa Rules Changed to Accommodate Medical Tourism
By Larry Habegger | Permalink |The government is easing visa requirements for visitors who come to Japan for medical care, hoping to obtain a larger share of the growing medical tourism market. The new Visa for Medical Stay will become available in January and will grant renewable, multiple-entry, six-month visas instead of the current 90-day limit for regular tourists. For many medical conditions, 90 days is too short to complete treatments. The new visa program is aimed primarily at wealthy citizens from China and other Asian nations.
