United Kingdom: Large Strike Planned for June 30
By Larry Habegger and Andrew Davis | Permalink |Supporters of an anti-tax-avoidance group and student activists plan to join in a “public spectacular” in London June 30 to support an already planned day of widespread strikes. The day will bring together a large coalition of groups opposed to proposed government cuts, and is expected to bring educational facilities, ports and job centers to a standstill. Some 750,000 public sector workers from major unions are expected to take part in the strike. Tourists in London on June 30 should be aware of the massive protests and expect delays in transportation.
