Seychelles: Second Deadly Shark Attack in Same Area
By Larry Habegger and Andrew Davis | Permalink |A second deadly shark attack within a month left a British honeymooner dead and the small island-nation distraught. The British citizen was snorkeling just 60 feet from the shore off Anse Lazio beach on the island of Praslin when he was attacked. Though he was brought to shore alive, rescuers could not save him. The first attack occurred earlier this month, killing a French tourist. Both attacks occurred in the same area, fueling speculation that a single shark is responsible for both deaths. Prior to these attacks, the small nation’s government had boasted of the island’s safety, where a fatal shark attack had not occurred since 1963. Officials temporarily banned entering the water off Anse Lazio.
