Zambia: State Department Issues Travel Alert
By Larry Habegger and Andrew Davis | Permalink |The U.S. State Department issued a travel alert for citizens leading up to the September 20, 2011 presidential, parliamentary and local elections in Zambia. Potential for unrest and disruptions surrounding the elections is high, and those planning to travel to the country should monitor local news and remain aware of local conditions. The State Department advises citizens to avoid demonstrations as even peaceful ones can devolve into violence. Those already in Zambia should take this opportunity to ensure that all passports are up to date and that all children are documented as U.S. citizens.
