Jamaica: New York City Retiree Shot to Death

By Larry Habegger and Andrew Davis | Permalink | No Comments | September 13th, 2011 | Trackback

Jamaican police said that a 57-year-old retiree from New York City was shot to death outside a relative’s house in Clarendon parish late Sunday night. The Constabulary Communications Network reported that the retiree was gunned down while in her car. The victim was a resident of Kingston, originally from the Bronx. Police have not made any arrests or deduced a motive for the killing. Violence and shootings occur regularly in certain areas of Kingston, and Jamaica lacks proper infrastructure to shelter travelers should they become destitute. Violent crime is a serious problem, as random gunfire can occur anywhere throughout the country.
