World Wide: State Department Issues Supplementary Alert Marking 9/11 Anniversary
By Larry Habegger and Andrew Davis | Permalink |The 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 is a stark reminder of national tragedy and vulnerability. Though no specific threats have been identified from al-Qa’ida or its affiliates and allies to attack the United States or its citizens, the U.S. State Department has issued a reminder of the threat that those terrorist organizations pose. The State Department warns that in the past, terrorist groups have on occasion coordinated attacks with significant dates. This travel alert is intended to supplement the the July 26, 2011, Worldwide Caution issued by the State Department, and expires on January 2, 2012.
