Germany: Leftist Group Warns of more Attacks on Berlin Rail Network
By Larry Habegger and Andrew Davis | Permalink |A leftist group calling themselves the “Hekla reception committee” has warned of attacks aimed at disrupting life in Berlin. An incendiary device knocked out signals along the rail route between Berlin and Hamburg Oct. 10, and another device was found on train tracks in southeastern Berlin the next day. Since Oct. 10, more than 300 trains have been delayed because of the arson attacks. Attacks on Berlin’s rail network are not new, however, as just last May, sabotage of a switching box disrupted train services throughout the capital.
