Mexico: In-Depth Travel Warning ahead of Spring Break
By Larry Habegger and Andrew Davis | Permalink |As spring break looms on the horizon for many college campuses in the U.S., the State Department has issued an in-depth travel warning for Mexico, a popular spot for American college students. While the warning concedes that the Mexican government takes extra precautions to protect tourists and that resort areas have not typically seen the levels of drug-violence that have plagued the rest of the country, the State Department urges all tourists to exercise caution. Kidnappings and disappearances are on the rise throughout Mexico, while carjacking and highway robberies continue throughout the country. Tourists should check with the State Department for a state-by-state assessment of the conditions in Mexico.
