Egypt: Security Warnings Updated Following Terrorist Bust
By Larry Habegger and Laurie Weed | Permalink |After the interception of terrorist operations in Cairo, Alexandria and the Sinai made news headlines, both the U.S. State Dept. and the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office updated their security warnings for travel in Egypt. While the scope of the terrorist plot is still under investigation, visitors should be aware that tourist attractions and venues such as hotels, restaurants and shopping areas may be targeted. Local security has been stepped up in some areas, but public places can be difficult to secure. Travelers are being advised take security issues into consideration when planning their itineraries, and to continue to monitor local media for updates.
