Bali: Officials Consider Restricting Access to Temples

By Larry Habegger and Dani Burlison | Permalink | No Comments | November 15th, 2013 | Trackback

Officials are considering restricting access to Hindu temples here, with some temples such as Besakih in eastern Bali already off limits to tourists. Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika first suggested that temples be excluded as tourist destinations, but meetings about imposing new restrictions rather than bans began with the Indonesian Tourism Industry Association and other organizations Nov. 8. Visitors should follow local news and stay up-to-date on restrictions, dress code requirements and etiquette before visiting temples.
