Yemen: Kidnappings in Bait Bous, Sana’a Suburb

The U.S. Embassy in Sana’a reported that three Germans were kidnapped in the Bait Bous tourist area in the Sana’a suburbs recently, and around the same time a Western diplomat escaped what appeared to be a kidnapping attempt on the road to Bait Bous. The Embassy urged U.S. citizens to avoid the Bait Bous area and to remain alert in all areas frequented by Westerners. Further, because of ongoing threat information the Embassy receives, U.S. officials have placed all Western hotels in Yemen off limits to Embassy personnel.
