Switzerland: World Economic Forum Meeting Could Create Travel Delays

By Larry Habegger | Permalink | No Comments | January 12th, 2011 | Trackback

The World Economic Forum annual meeting will take place in Davos Jan. 26-30, and travelers may encounter anti-globalization demonstrations and transit disruptions in other cities during that period. Cities that have been affected during past meetings include Basel, Bern, Chur, Lucerne and Zurich. Significant unrest is unlikely because the number of demonstrators has diminished in recent years and their protests have been mostly peaceful. Swiss security measures have also been effective in controlling access to Davos and maintaining order. Nonetheless, expect delays.
