Greece: Protests Loom Due to Austerity Measures

The new protests came as Greek officials negotiated a new round of austerity measures to combat the country’s debt crisis. Such belt tightening has been at the heart of numerous protests in Greece during the past year. Despite efforts to increase the financial forecasts for the country, the possibilities for default and a credit-downgrade continue to feed tensions across Greece. Travelers should avoid mass gatherings due to the possibility of violence.
