Argentina: Airline Strike
By Larry Habegger | Permalink |Aerolineas Argentinas pilots and mechanics have been on strike since Nov. 24, and mechanics blocked access to Buenos Aires’ main airport Nov. 28 after the airline fired 168 employees. The blockade forced passengers to haul their luggage several blocks to reach the airport, while the strike stranded thousands of domestic and international passengers. The firing of pilots and mechanics was viewed as a provocation by the unions and it is uncertain how long the strike will go on. Unions for flight attendants and administrative employees did not join the strike.
